Avoiding a Holiday (Extra Weight) Hangover
Thanksgiving is just around the corner. For many, it is the beginning of the overindulgent season. Let’s not use the excuse of the thanksgiving meal as a justification to take a 5 week detour from taking care of ourselves.
Yes, this is the start of the parties, special food, and lots of adult type beverages. We can get through the Holiday season without the average 5 -10 pound weight gain by focusing on one event or one party at a time.
Starting with Thanksgiving, it is just one day. Put a small spoonful of all the foods you like to eat at Thanksgiving on your plate. Celebrate the day by enjoying, savoring every morsel of food, and chewing slowly. Intentionally, put your fork down after each bite, take a second to feel gratitude, and feel cherished.
Maybe gratitude is difficult to feel right now. The in-laws are in town, your sisters kids are tearing up your house, the turkey is burning, and the dog will not stop yapping. Now more than ever it is essential that you schedule some alone time. Even if it is just 5 minute a day.
Schedule this time before your day begins, before the guest arrives, or just after the turkey goes in the oven. Go to a quite place where no one will bother you. Possibly, consider locking yourself in the bathroom even after the guest arrive. Use this time to breath deeply, count each breath in for those five minutes. Or listen to some soothing music, experience the music, and relax.
It is extremely important for you to listen to your Diva CD at night. So you will remember who you are.
Keep in mind, that if you choose to overeat on this day, you need not feel any guilt, remorse, or shame.
For you are a Divine Diva.
