Hypnosis for Accelerated Physical Healing

Aren’t our bodies magnificent? A cut or a scratch heals with little effort on our part. Sure, we have to bandage the wound and keep it clean, but after that, the body does the healing by itself.  All it takes is time.

And wouldn’t you just love it if you could shorten that time?  Guess what?  You can!  Just tap into the power of your subconscious mind!  And how would you do that, you might ask.  One word:  hypnosis.

If you think this sounds a bit far out, think again: hypnosis has been studied at Harvard Medical School, the most prestigious medical school in the country. They found that fractured bones of patients who used hypnosis healed significantly faster than expected.  Read all about it in the April issue of Prevention Magazine.

And hypnosis doesn’t just work on bones.  Harvard has done other studies as well.  In one of them, they found that women who used hypnosis before and after breast reduction surgery healed much more quickly. Since that’s a notoriously painful type of surgery, it’s especially great news that the hypnotized women also experienced significantly less pain.

This didn’t come as a big surprise to me. After all, I frequently witness the power of hypnosis firsthand.  A friend of mine, for example, used hypnosis to recover from a shoulder injury.  She was healing so well, she was able to decrease her physical therapy time by nine months!

There’s more:  not only will hypnosis help the body heal more quickly and with less pain, it also helps people let go of pre-surgery anxiety.

A few weeks prior to her scheduled open heart surgery, a client came to me feeling edgy and nervous. We used hypnosis to find a place where she was comfortable and calm.  I had her visualize the surgery and see the doctors and nurses performing the surgery perfectly.  Since she is also a very spiritual person, she visualized God guiding the surgeons hands. After surgery, she told me how surprised she was by the peace and calm she felt as the time of her surgery approached.

As we can see, hypnosis can be used for far more than just losing weight and stopping smoking. Our powerful minds can help our bodies heal.

So the next time you’re hurt, consider tapping into the power of your mind with hypnosis and giving your body’s healing power a big boost.
